Oren Peli Suggests “Paranormal Activity” Based on Reality

Oren Peli created “Paranormal Activity” with $15,000 and a limited shooting schedule. The movie grossed over 7.9 million dollars in its first week.

Studio executives are now downplaying comments Peli recently made about the origins of the idea for the movie.  ”After I moved in to my house, I started hearing strange creaks and other noises,” Peli told an on-line  news website. “The scene where the girl’s hair gets puffed up by the breath of the demon really happened, and it happened to me,” added Peli. “It even whispered its name”.

Speculation about what that name was and whether Peli was winding up the interviewer remains unanswered. Jason Blum, the film’s producer quickly ushered Peli out of the room. The two could be heard arguing before Blum returned to tell the interviewer that the interview was over.
